Reisdetails van New York -
Omschrijving:
Op 17 september zou ik vertrekken met KLM/Delta om 09.30 uur naar New York JFK, echter 's ochtends vroeg al op de hoogte gesteld van een vertraging naar i.i.g. 11.20 uur. Op Schiphol aangekomen nog geen duidelijkheid er zijn wat technische problemen met het toestel. Enfin, koffer gedropt en aan de koffie maar. Bij de gate blijkt dat de vlucht sowieso vertraagd wordt tot rond 13.00 uur. Het lange wachten kan beginnen, uiteindelijke 13.30 uur vertrek, maar van de gereserveerde stoel in comfort class klopt niets meer want er is een ander type toestel ingezet. Aan een gangpad toch in de comfort class en temidden van heel veel bekend personeel van de EO o.a. Bert van Leeuwen en Marc Dik.
Het voordeel is dan wel weer dat je met meer dan 3 uur vertraging op een vlucht als deze 600 Euro compensatie kunt aanvragen. Dus KLM kan mijn claim verwachten, dat is leuk zakgeld voor een volgende reis :-). na een verder prima vlucht gearriveerd op JFK. De douane kun je tegenwoordig aardig omzeilen omdat er allemaal apparaten staan waarbij je je paspoort en Esta (soort visum) kunt scannen en dan gelijk door kunt lopen. Bagage volgt snel en vervolgens per shuttlebus naar Penn Station, vandaar lopend naar het dichtbij gelegen hotel Mela. Dit hotel Mela ligt om de hoek bij Times Square en het metrostation. Kamers modern en netjes.
De bezienswaardigheden van New York gedaan die zo'n beetje iedereen doet. Eind gelopen door Central Park (fietsen kan ook), Guggenheim museum, Top of the Rock uitzicht in Rockefeller centrum, Greenwich village, Chelsea Market, High Line, Eataly (grote Italiaanse marktwinkel) Ground Zero met de bakken water waar de Twin towers stonden en ernaast het indrukwekkende 9/11 museum, Wall Street, Fifth Avenue, Ferry naar Staten Island v.v. en langs het Vrijheidsbeeld.
In korte tijd veel indrukken opgedaan in deze prettige stad met zoveel culturen bij elkaar. Iedere wijk heeft wel zijn charme. Restaurants in alle categorieën en winkels van 'vintage' tot Gucci. De grootste Apple store is 'huge' en te aantrekkelijk.
Per metro is alles goed bereikbaar, je koopt een kaart voor een bepaald aantal ritten en kunt de kaart opladen bij elk station met je creditcard.
Het mooie weer heeft zeker meegeholpen om een positieve indruk van de stad te krijgen.
Eigenlijk is 5 dagen veel te kort, maar dat is een goede reden nog eens terug te gaan!
Op de terugreis met KLM verloopt alles op tijd en voorspoedig. Aangezien dit een nachtvlucht is, wordt de maaltijd snel geserveerd en gaan daarna de lichten uit.
Na afloop van de reis claim ingediend en inderdaad 1200 Euro compensatie ontvangen op de bankrekening.
Een ervaring rijker, ik kan een trip naar de Big Apple van harte aanbevelen!!

Reisdetails van New York -
Omschrijving:
Op 17 september zou ik vertrekken met KLM/Delta om 09.30 uur naar New York JFK, echter 's ochtends vroeg al op de hoogte gesteld van een vertraging naar i.i.g. 11.20 uur. Op Schiphol aangekomen nog geen duidelijkheid er zijn wat technische problemen met het toestel. Enfin, koffer gedropt en aan de koffie maar. Bij de gate blijkt dat de vlucht sowieso vertraagd wordt tot rond 13.00 uur. Het lange wachten kan beginnen, uiteindelijke 13.30 uur vertrek, maar van de gereserveerde stoel in comfort class klopt niets meer want er is een ander type toestel ingezet. Aan een gangpad toch in de comfort class en temidden van heel veel bekend personeel van de EO o.a. Bert van Leeuwen en Marc Dik.
Het voordeel is dan wel weer dat je met meer dan 3 uur vertraging op een vlucht als deze 600 Euro compensatie kunt aanvragen. Dus KLM kan mijn claim verwachten, dat is leuk zakgeld voor een volgende reis :-). na een verder prima vlucht gearriveerd op JFK. De douane kun je tegenwoordig aardig omzeilen omdat er allemaal apparaten staan waarbij je je paspoort en Esta (soort visum) kunt scannen en dan gelijk door kunt lopen. Bagage volgt snel en vervolgens per shuttlebus naar Penn Station, vandaar lopend naar het dichtbij gelegen hotel Mela. Dit hotel Mela ligt om de hoek bij Times Square en het metrostation. Kamers modern en netjes.
De bezienswaardigheden van New York gedaan die zo'n beetje iedereen doet. Eind gelopen door Central Park (fietsen kan ook), Guggenheim museum, Top of the Rock uitzicht in Rockefeller centrum, Greenwich village, Chelsea Market, High Line, Eataly (grote Italiaanse marktwinkel) Ground Zero met de bakken water waar de Twin towers stonden en ernaast het indrukwekkende 9/11 museum, Wall Street, Fifth Avenue, Ferry naar Staten Island v.v. en langs het Vrijheidsbeeld.
In korte tijd veel indrukken opgedaan in deze prettige stad met zoveel culturen bij elkaar. Iedere wijk heeft wel zijn charme. Restaurants in alle categorieën en winkels van 'vintage' tot Gucci. De grootste Apple store is 'huge' en te aantrekkelijk.
Per metro is alles goed bereikbaar, je koopt een kaart voor een bepaald aantal ritten en kunt de kaart opladen bij elk station met je creditcard.
Het mooie weer heeft zeker meegeholpen om een positieve indruk van de stad te krijgen.
Eigenlijk is 5 dagen veel te kort, maar dat is een goede reden nog eens terug te gaan!
Op de terugreis met KLM verloopt alles op tijd en voorspoedig. Aangezien dit een nachtvlucht is, wordt de maaltijd snel geserveerd en gaan daarna de lichten uit.
Na afloop van de reis claim ingediend en inderdaad 1200 Euro compensatie ontvangen op de bankrekening.
Een ervaring rijker, ik kan een trip naar de Big Apple van harte aanbevelen!!

Reisdetails van New York -
Omschrijving:
Op 17 september zou ik vertrekken met KLM/Delta om 09.30 uur naar New York JFK, echter 's ochtends vroeg al op de hoogte gesteld van een vertraging naar i.i.g. 11.20 uur. Op Schiphol aangekomen nog geen duidelijkheid er zijn wat technische problemen met het toestel. Enfin, koffer gedropt en aan de koffie maar. Bij de gate blijkt dat de vlucht sowieso vertraagd wordt tot rond 13.00 uur. Het lange wachten kan beginnen, uiteindelijke 13.30 uur vertrek, maar van de gereserveerde stoel in comfort class klopt niets meer want er is een ander type toestel ingezet. Aan een gangpad toch in de comfort class en temidden van heel veel bekend personeel van de EO o.a. Bert van Leeuwen en Marc Dik.
Het voordeel is dan wel weer dat je met meer dan 3 uur vertraging op een vlucht als deze 600 Euro compensatie kunt aanvragen. Dus KLM kan mijn claim verwachten, dat is leuk zakgeld voor een volgende reis :-). na een verder prima vlucht gearriveerd op JFK. De douane kun je tegenwoordig aardig omzeilen omdat er allemaal apparaten staan waarbij je je paspoort en Esta (soort visum) kunt scannen en dan gelijk door kunt lopen. Bagage volgt snel en vervolgens per shuttlebus naar Penn Station, vandaar lopend naar het dichtbij gelegen hotel Mela. Dit hotel Mela ligt om de hoek bij Times Square en het metrostation. Kamers modern en netjes.
De bezienswaardigheden van New York gedaan die zo'n beetje iedereen doet. Eind gelopen door Central Park (fietsen kan ook), Guggenheim museum, Top of the Rock uitzicht in Rockefeller centrum, Greenwich village, Chelsea Market, High Line, Eataly (grote Italiaanse marktwinkel) Ground Zero met de bakken water waar de Twin towers stonden en ernaast het indrukwekkende 9/11 museum, Wall Street, Fifth Avenue, Ferry naar Staten Island v.v. en langs het Vrijheidsbeeld.
In korte tijd veel indrukken opgedaan in deze prettige stad met zoveel culturen bij elkaar. Iedere wijk heeft wel zijn charme. Restaurants in alle categorieën en winkels van 'vintage' tot Gucci. De grootste Apple store is 'huge' en te aantrekkelijk.
Per metro is alles goed bereikbaar, je koopt een kaart voor een bepaald aantal ritten en kunt de kaart opladen bij elk station met je creditcard.
Het mooie weer heeft zeker meegeholpen om een positieve indruk van de stad te krijgen.
Eigenlijk is 5 dagen veel te kort, maar dat is een goede reden nog eens terug te gaan!
Op de terugreis met KLM verloopt alles op tijd en voorspoedig. Aangezien dit een nachtvlucht is, wordt de maaltijd snel geserveerd en gaan daarna de lichten uit.
Na afloop van de reis claim ingediend en inderdaad 1200 Euro compensatie ontvangen op de bankrekening.
Een ervaring rijker, ik kan een trip naar de Big Apple van harte aanbevelen!!

Reisdetails van New York -
Omschrijving:
Op 17 september zou ik vertrekken met KLM/Delta om 09.30 uur naar New York JFK, echter 's ochtends vroeg al op de hoogte gesteld van een vertraging naar i.i.g. 11.20 uur. Op Schiphol aangekomen nog geen duidelijkheid er zijn wat technische problemen met het toestel. Enfin, koffer gedropt en aan de koffie maar. Bij de gate blijkt dat de vlucht sowieso vertraagd wordt tot rond 13.00 uur. Het lange wachten kan beginnen, uiteindelijke 13.30 uur vertrek, maar van de gereserveerde stoel in comfort class klopt niets meer want er is een ander type toestel ingezet. Aan een gangpad toch in de comfort class en temidden van heel veel bekend personeel van de EO o.a. Bert van Leeuwen en Marc Dik.
Het voordeel is dan wel weer dat je met meer dan 3 uur vertraging op een vlucht als deze 600 Euro compensatie kunt aanvragen. Dus KLM kan mijn claim verwachten, dat is leuk zakgeld voor een volgende reis :-). na een verder prima vlucht gearriveerd op JFK. De douane kun je tegenwoordig aardig omzeilen omdat er allemaal apparaten staan waarbij je je paspoort en Esta (soort visum) kunt scannen en dan gelijk door kunt lopen. Bagage volgt snel en vervolgens per shuttlebus naar Penn Station, vandaar lopend naar het dichtbij gelegen hotel Mela. Dit hotel Mela ligt om de hoek bij Times Square en het metrostation. Kamers modern en netjes.
De bezienswaardigheden van New York gedaan die zo'n beetje iedereen doet. Eind gelopen door Central Park (fietsen kan ook), Guggenheim museum, Top of the Rock uitzicht in Rockefeller centrum, Greenwich village, Chelsea Market, High Line, Eataly (grote Italiaanse marktwinkel) Ground Zero met de bakken water waar de Twin towers stonden en ernaast het indrukwekkende 9/11 museum, Wall Street, Fifth Avenue, Ferry naar Staten Island v.v. en langs het Vrijheidsbeeld.
In korte tijd veel indrukken opgedaan in deze prettige stad met zoveel culturen bij elkaar. Iedere wijk heeft wel zijn charme. Restaurants in alle categorieën en winkels van 'vintage' tot Gucci. De grootste Apple store is 'huge' en te aantrekkelijk.
Per metro is alles goed bereikbaar, je koopt een kaart voor een bepaald aantal ritten en kunt de kaart opladen bij elk station met je creditcard.
Het mooie weer heeft zeker meegeholpen om een positieve indruk van de stad te krijgen.
Eigenlijk is 5 dagen veel te kort, maar dat is een goede reden nog eens terug te gaan!
Op de terugreis met KLM verloopt alles op tijd en voorspoedig. Aangezien dit een nachtvlucht is, wordt de maaltijd snel geserveerd en gaan daarna de lichten uit.
Na afloop van de reis claim ingediend en inderdaad 1200 Euro compensatie ontvangen op de bankrekening.
Een ervaring rijker, ik kan een trip naar de Big Apple van harte aanbevelen!!

Zoals te doen gebruikelijk word mij vaak gevraagd “Waar ben je nú weer geweest?” Lang heb ik me ietwat schuldig gevoeld en voerde ik aan dat er toch vooral gewerkt werd tijdens een studiereis. Het is een w-e-r-k-r-e-i-s. Niets ingewikkeld, de een doet onderzoek in het Great Barrier Reef en mag tijdelijk op een tropisch eiland wonen, de ander bouwt huizen in Indonesië na de tsunami en ik bezoek bestemmingen en onderzoek hotels. Met tot doel bij geschiktheid dit over te brengen op de klanten en deze bestemming beter te kunnen verkopen. Zo simpel is dat. Kun je lekker gerecht niet het beste opdienen als je het eerst zelf een keer gemaakt en geproefd hebt, succes verzekerd!
Dus droomwerk, ja en nee. Natuurlijk zie ik veel van de wereld en krijg je soms een paar uurtjes tijd om zelf te genieten van die zonovergoten witte stranden. Maar er zijn toch vooral veel verplichtingen (hotels inspecteren, verplichte maaltijden en power point presentaties met managers). Je gaat vaak met een groep onbekende collega’s op stap en komt als gezellige vrienden uit de reiswereld terug. Dus met enthousiasme ga ik op de ingeslagen weg door. Zie mijn verslagen!

[description] => Op 17 september zou ik vertrekken met KLM/Delta om 09.30 uur naar New York JFK, echter 's ochtends vroeg al op de hoogte gesteld van een vertraging naar i.i.g. 11.20 uur. Op Schiphol aangekomen nog geen duidelijkheid er zijn wat technische problemen met het toestel. Enfin, koffer gedropt en aan de koffie maar. Bij de gate blijkt dat de vlucht sowieso vertraagd wordt tot rond 13.00 uur. Het lange wachten kan beginnen, uiteindelijke 13.30 uur vertrek, maar van de gereserveerde stoel in comfort class klopt niets meer want er is een ander type toestel ingezet. Aan een gangpad toch in de comfort class en temidden van heel veel bekend personeel van de EO o.a. Bert van Leeuwen en Marc Dik.
Het voordeel is dan wel weer dat je met meer dan 3 uur vertraging op een vlucht als deze 600 Euro compensatie kunt aanvragen. Dus KLM kan mijn claim verwachten, dat is leuk zakgeld voor een volgende reis :-). na een verder prima vlucht gearriveerd op JFK. De douane kun je tegenwoordig aardig omzeilen omdat er allemaal apparaten staan waarbij je je paspoort en Esta (soort visum) kunt scannen en dan gelijk door kunt lopen. Bagage volgt snel en vervolgens per shuttlebus naar Penn Station, vandaar lopend naar het dichtbij gelegen hotel Mela. Dit hotel Mela ligt om de hoek bij Times Square en het metrostation. Kamers modern en netjes.
De bezienswaardigheden van New York gedaan die zo'n beetje iedereen doet. Eind gelopen door Central Park (fietsen kan ook), Guggenheim museum, Top of the Rock uitzicht in Rockefeller centrum, Greenwich village, Chelsea Market, High Line, Eataly (grote Italiaanse marktwinkel) Ground Zero met de bakken water waar de Twin towers stonden en ernaast het indrukwekkende 9/11 museum, Wall Street, Fifth Avenue, Ferry naar Staten Island v.v. en langs het Vrijheidsbeeld.
In korte tijd veel indrukken opgedaan in deze prettige stad met zoveel culturen bij elkaar. Iedere wijk heeft wel zijn charme. Restaurants in alle categorieën en winkels van 'vintage' tot Gucci. De grootste Apple store is 'huge' en te aantrekkelijk.
Per metro is alles goed bereikbaar, je koopt een kaart voor een bepaald aantal ritten en kunt de kaart opladen bij elk station met je creditcard.
Het mooie weer heeft zeker meegeholpen om een positieve indruk van de stad te krijgen.
Eigenlijk is 5 dagen veel te kort, maar dat is een goede reden nog eens terug te gaan!
Op de terugreis met KLM verloopt alles op tijd en voorspoedig. Aangezien dit een nachtvlucht is, wordt de maaltijd snel geserveerd en gaan daarna de lichten uit.
Na afloop van de reis claim ingediend en inderdaad 1200 Euro compensatie ontvangen op de bankrekening.
Een ervaring rijker, ik kan een trip naar de Big Apple van harte aanbevelen!!
